A LANDMARK SUPREME COURT CASE PUTS DACA—AND ONE UNDOCUMENTED LAWYER’S FIGHT FOR HIS COMMUNITY—AT THE CENTER OF HISTORY

Luis Cortes Romero, Redwood City local and graduate of SJSU, isn’t your typical member of the Supreme Court Bar. This DACA recipient and charismatic attorney knows firsthand the pain of family separation caused by deportation.

When the Trump administration abruptly threatens to deport 700,000 fellow Dreamers, Luis fights back, going all the way to the Supreme Court, making Luis the first undocumented immigrant to argue before the nation’s highest court. This timely documentary highlights the urgent need for compassionate immigration reform and legal representation for families facing the threats of detention and deportation.

Following the film, leaders from local immigrant rights organizations will engage the audience in a timely, local conversation—sharing urgent updates, firsthand stories, and clear ways we can act now to protect our immigrant neighbors.
